“Not everyone needs help – but everyone needs a plan.”
Whether it’s passing away prematurely or living to a ripe old age, prudent planning can make a big difference. Unfortunately our business revolves around clients with mortality issues. Most of the time these circumstances involve much older clients who are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. However, life is fragile and we occasionally see younger clients who have passed away. We had such a case recently.
Fact Pattern: Husband is 67 years old. Wife is 64 years old.
As with many of our families we have helped over the years, we had an adult son in his late 50s come to our office for his parents who have since passed away. Fast forward a dozen years or so, and he is now 67 and his wife is 64 years old and about to retire.
This couple became a client of Generations Asset Preservation and essentially had all the proper legal documents prepared to set them on a course to a secure retirement. Unfortunately, his wife passed away unexpectedly and he is now dealing with the grief and all the heartache of dealing with all the unrealized dreams. She was about to retire, securing her 401k plan, and solidify their retirement goals.
This is just another affirmation that life can and will invariably throw us curveballs. Luckily, all their planning was in order, so that is one last thing he doesn’t need to worry about, at least for now.
